Longtime Loveland resident and community activist, Roger Hoffmann, has announced he will run for the Larimer County Commission from
District 3.  Hoffmann narrowly lost to the incumbent Commissioner, Glenn Gibson, in 2004.

Hoffmann, a Democrat, has long been rumored to be the party's choice to run for commission from District 3.  Tomorrow, March 8, will be the
Democrat assembly for Larimer County.  Delegates representing every precinct in Larimer County will gather to vote on who the party nominees
will be to have their names placed on the ballot for the upcoming August 12, primary election.   Roger Hoffmann is expected to be selected
through this process since no other candidate has been mentioned to LovelandPolitics  for this race from within the Larimer County Democratic
party.  However, recent turmoil caused by Gibson's loss in the Republican assembly could encourage an idle Democrat to come forward.

Hoffmann stated his reasons for running as, "Larimer County is a special place, and my wife and I feel privileged to live here.  I feel its important
to take care of it.  Solving problems and turning challenges into opportunities is just part of my makeup."

Hoffmann served on the RTA board and his opposition to the proposed RTA sales proposal was covered extensively on LovelandPoltiics.com.
Hoffmann is a familiar face to many involved in Loveland politics as he served on numerous city and county task forces, committees, boards and
citizen commissions.  Hoffmann is a former member of the Loveland Affordable Housing Commission, Economic Vitality Task Force, Larimer
County land use advisory groups and others.

Hoffmann was an early advocate for recycling in Loveland  and largely responsible for getting the city to adopt a city-wide recycling program.
Hoffmann also lead the consensus effort on Mosquito control in the 1980's which resulted in a model policy.

Professionally Hoffmann has served as a mediator and facilitator for various organizations and also has a history of running non-profit 501(c)3
organizations.  Hoffmann stated, "People sense that we're not headed in the right direction and believe that we can do better in Larimer County.
We can solve the pressing problems of transportation deficits, congestion, air pollution, jail overcrowding and degredation of service; but not by
doing the same things that created the problems in the first place.  I offer a voice for the families of Northern Colorado, and new ways of thinking
needed to turn today's problems into tomorrow's opportunities."
