LovelandPolitics Exclusive
LovelandPolitics has obtained some of the evidence used against Drake resident Roberta “Bobby” Allen (who wants to acquire county property along the Big Thompson River in Drake) to get a restraining order preventing her from contacting county staff.
Allen’s daughter owns 21 acres adjacent to a parcel of county land acquired by Larimer County following the 1976 flood of the canyon when FEMA purchased all the land in the flood zone that is not developable.
Allen fears the public having access to the land creates a safety hazard for she and her daughter and sounds willing to do most anything to get the county to relinquish the property to her.
LovelandPolitics obtained recorded voice messages she left for county officals that are just two of many.
Defamatory comments will not be posted but general comments on the matter are permitted on this blog. Please be aware that her language is a little rough and probably should not be heard by impressionable children.
Oh my God! We could not stop laughing at that phone message. You should make that the main story instead of hiding it on the sidebar of the homepage.
The title should be “how not to act when trying to influence public officials.”
Thank God somebody is willing to serve on these local positions because you couldn’t pay me enough to do it. Wow, that was a ridiculous phone message.
John, there is nothing funny in this audio recording. The poor woman is unhappy and trying to persuade the county into selling her the land next to her daughter’s land. In the second recording it sounds like she might be threatening someone’s daughter but it isn’t clear so I am not sure what she intended by her comments about “your daughter”
OK, it says no disparaging comments so let me try and ask a hypothetical;.
Here is the question, if an alcoholic, meth addict or even medical marijuana patient had the bad habit of picking up a phone when they were drunk, high or stoned would it be right for you to put that in the internet?
Maybe the manifestations of someone’s addiction is not proper for public entertainment. Now, I don’t know Bobbie Allen and can’t say what her state of mind was when she recorded these messages. Just a guess would be she was not in a proper state of mind given her abrupt changes from a vulgar rant to religious preaching. Just a guess.
Lighten the hell up! We are all just doing it for the LOL “greater gorilla.”
HaHaha!!!
We listened to the phone messages and found them offensive. Please remove them from this site. It discredits an otherwise breath of fresh air of valuable and informed news reporting for Loveland.
The Reporter-Herald would never provide these tapes unedited. On this matter they are right and you are wrong.
Thank you,
What in the heck are you talking about?
I don’t have an issue with the content as I feel that there has been appropriate warnings, however, it is somewhat obnoxious because the sound clip auto-starts when going to the website, leaving the listener to frantically seek a volume or mute button. Also, on Firefox, at any rate, there are two sound clips that start one after another so when I visited the page this morning there was a loud round of “GOD#$%^” “GOD#$%^”, waking up my husband before I could yank the speakers.
If I may make a technical suggestion it would be to remove one of the clip links and only allow the clip to play when the viewer has activated it.
Thanks for the notice. The sound clips are not supposed to start unless you hit play but we also noticed when using Firefox — they both start automatically.
We might move onto another page so at least people using Firefox don’t have it occur whenever they open the LovelandPolitics.com home page.
Me: look on the homepage in the right column at the bottom.
I use Firefox (it works better for everything else) and yes, the auto-starting dual sound clips is unsettling. I couldn’t find any kind of control anywhere on the page…even where suggested. But I got the gist of the message. Unfortunately, there are lots of loose cannons and people whose fasteners have come a bit undone, as this illustrates. That’s also why we have groups with leaders running around claiming that putting up bike racks and making things accessible to pedestrians is “taking away our freedoms”.
Okay..I found the playback controls. And listened to the tapes (well, most of them) in fascinated horror. Clearly the speaker is unbalanced, but also probably quite drunk. After listening, I feel she really needs some help.
