For years people critical of this website have attempted to discredit this news source by making personal attacks upon the publisher and his motives instead of disputing the facts uncovered through investigative reporting. Sometimes, people drunk on their own bath water can’t resist lashing out.
Mike Hill, Loveland real estate broker and Director of McWhinney’s Multi-Family Housing may just be such a person. Emails sent to Admin@LovelandPolitics.com were insulting and barely literate so we assumed they couldn’t possibly be from Mike Hill until we bought an email trace online of the offending email address pbwaverider@Yahoo.com. The information indicated the emails were emanating from a Yahoo account owned by Mike Hill of Loveland and registered to both his home and business addresses.
When we sent our findings to Chad and Troy McWhinney along with their COO, Doug Hill (Mike’s Father we are told) via email, Mike Hill responded with the following explanation;
“Please be aware that I have friends in California that use my home computer while in town visiting me (that obvisouly have opinions on the politics and events in this area) and have access to this e-mail account both while in and out of state.”
Really? Where is Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC when we need to confront someone over who was sending emails from their account?
Please take a minute to read our story about how we tracked the source and see what things were being said in the emails along with Mike Hill’s complete email in response to our inquiry to McWhinney.
Do you believe his friends from Southern California were angry with LovelandPolitics and felt the need to attack us or did it really come from a senior McWhinney associate?
The personal attacks, intimidation and nastiness often displayed by those who support McWhinney against anyone who questions their public subsidies is unsettling. Contrary to what the offensive emails argue, rich doesn’t make right and measuring the value of one’s argument only by the size of their bank account is an argument absent any reason.
Remember, it is LovelandPolitics that is supposed to not be credible. People who claim out of town friends are taking over their personal email accounts to argue Loveland politics; are apparently the credible people you should be trusting with millions of dollars of your future sales and property taxes.
Are you kidding?
Unless your life’s goal was to build a shopping center that would be foreclosed in 3 years why would you be jealous?
There is something to me very unseemly about people who flaunt their wealth while their company defaults on loan obligations of over $100 million to Key Bank. I bet that money represents hundreds if not thousands of depositors, CD holders and other investors whose life savings are tied-up in Key Bank and the other lenders left stranded on the Promenade Shops at Centerra.
Maybe Mr. Hill sees these “dumb ass” people as unimportant.
If the McWhinneys are so damned rich why are the people who do business with them so broke? Can’t they use their own funds to make good on their company’s loan commitments? The lenders in Promenade Shops are stranded without their money while Chad McWhinney takes private jets and advertises his gifts to charity.
Integrity used to be a value in our society. It looks to me like Mr. Hill has learned the wrong lesson by trying to weasel out of taking responsibility for his own actions – but don’t sue me its just what I think!!
But if you do sue, a monkey from the zoo in Southern California was thinking about Loveland politics and just took over my computer to make this post. Yeah, that’s my story.
Hey, I’ll admit I’ve not been a fan of the McWhinneys and the way they’ve manipulated their proxies at the City. I don’t like the way they’ve gotten special treatment and public subsidies that give them huge advantages over other land owners and developers.
Still, I’m both surprised and even a bit disappointed that they’d have such an apparent bozo in their management team.
And what incredible arrogance! For a guy, lacking basic language skills (too many misspellings, etc. to count), to label ANYONE ELSE “idiot” and “dumbass”, that’s just too much! I got a chuckle from that.
But he doesn’t show much character, first in his anonymous attacks, then, when caught, his childish attempt at denial by hinting that someone else could’ve done it. A MAN would’ve simply manned up, taken responsibility and apologized, and maybe attributed it to a temporary lapse of judgment. But this is not a man, but more apparently a spoiled brat who hasn’t yet grown up.
Also, I see that another Hill is the McWhinney CEO. Any relation? If so, maybe this is just one of your cases of nepotism, which usually comes around to haunt the employer eventually.
Again though, times must be rough out at McWhinneyville. For all their flaws, the company at least used to employ smarter people.
I cannot believe McWhinney would hire anyone with such a pathetic use of English and no spelling skills at all – LOL I think the article is great, very well researched and documented !
Who is the bigger fraud – the McWhinneys or the schoolyard bullies behind this blog? The numbers on the front page are a fraud: You have not had over 30,000 visitors since the first of June 2010. You make up comments posted on this blog to provoke response.
By the way: If this comment is not posted here because of your documented practice of censorship – no worries. It goes viral in 24 hours.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Leo, our counter shows 739 visitors since June 1, 2010. When we reset it June 1st it started at zero again from somewhere near 30,000.
Try clearing your web browser’s cache and that should clear out the old code and allow your counter to reset to the new number. Sorry for the glitch but given the number of different browsers our cheap site building software doesn’t always migrate automatic changes to new formats.
That will cause our site to reload more slowly the first time back since it will need to reload everything but after that is should work as usual.
Your other comments will be taken as a poor attempt at humor. Otherwise, sending a virus over the internet intentionally is a federal offense that we hope you are not attempting.
Viral: Sent on the Internet to multiple sites. I think you mean a virus.
Thank you for the clarification.
On the counter, the http://www.LovelandPolitics.com is at 15,000 while the regular LovelandPolitics.com site is 30,000. They are both the same site but for some reason the counter accumulates differently for each. Many people count one or the other and believe that is the total number of visitors. The actual number of visitors we believe is the combined number.
We removed the date on the counter as some people said clearing the cache didn’t work while others see the lower number that shows on our browser as well.
According to our web server’s statistics (which are more reliable), we average around 5,000 unique visitors per month for both sites. It goes down to around 4,000 during slow months and up to 8,000 to 9,000 close to municipal elections.
This website is an all volunteer effort so we don’t jealously guard our site statistics like some commercial web pages do from their competition.
LovelandPolitics is not competing with anyone and is meant to be an unvarnished look at the people, money and events impacting city politics.
Thanks for the clarification!
Mikey’s hate mail (oh yeah Mikey’s California ‘friends’ using his email account) is really disturbing. How Chad and Troy can hide or defend reckless and dishonest behavior like this I don’t know.
I am surprised this website only gets 4,000 viewers each month. I thought Mike Hill’s email explained to us even people on the west coast are following the Sweet Heart city politics and want to comment to boot! That is an impressive audience for a Loveland city website!
It looks like some people are just busy attacking the messenger again because their actions are so indefensible it is the only option they have. Congratulations! You caught them red handed and they know it!
Doug Hill is a good man so I don’t believe he would have ever allowed his son to engage what you call “sophomoric and juvenile” behavior and I don’t believe the McWhinneys ever officially approved the sending of those half literate utterances of childish name calling.
I wonder what Mike will be getting his father today for father’s day. Let’s see, Dad you get me everything including this great job in your company and I embarrass the hell out of you and everyone else?
Wow, maybe there is nothing he can buy to make-up for this catastrophe. i don’t know what else to say other than I am shocked as I thought they were better people.
I suppose it’s best just to ignore those whose only resort is to attack the messenger. “Leo” seems to me just like Mr.Hill…the subject of this report. That is, can dispute no point of fact; but merely call the reporters names.
Quite honestly, I don’t know why this site even tolerates such pointless personal abuse; regardless of the threat stated by the coward.
But this is America: and I suppose that out of compassion you let every fool spit out whatever drivel or noise they care to make.
Great story!
I find it fascinating that Mike makes all his money in Loveland but chose to buy a house last year in Windsor carrying a mortgage of $366,000.
So the guy attacking your motives lives in Windsor and works for McWhinney in Loveland? Talk about somebody who doesn’t care about the community!!!!!!!!!!!LOL
I don’t care what he thinks about Loveland. He obviously sees it as a place to turn a quick buck while investing all that money in a huge home in Windsor.
Did you see the article about Penners going out of business because of all the big box retail? Penner paid taxes McWhinney doesn’t. I am all for development as long as it makes sense for the community. Just like Stump says in the RH the other day – if we were McWhinney this project would have been approved and done by now. What ever happened to treating everyone fairly? Of course Mike is going to laugh at you and everyone in Loveland because they are eating our lunch and nobody is doing anything about it. Look at the numbers! Centerra makes-up half the retail but only contribute 10-15% of the sales tax revenue.
The other 50% of business in town is collecting 85% of the sales taxes going to the city. People need to stop being afraid to speak out for what is right make McWhinney pay the taxes everyone else has to pay.
God speed to LovelandPolitcs and don’t let the foul mouth bullies get you down! They are only in it for themselves and don’t give a hoot about this community!!!!!
John
Well I see you have figured out that Mike Hill is the son of Doug Hill, COO of McWhinney. Daddy’s boy get a sweetheart job while others are laid off. His spelling gives a good idea about his capabilities. More interesting, the Jordan Road address that you traced the email account to is Doug Hill’s home. Maybe Doug is the one sending the emails?
“An unvarnished look”?
IF LovelandPolitics.com reported the unvarnished, it would have put “Mr. Ed” Lehman and his workers, Ken Amundson and Christine Kapperman, out of business a long time ago by reporting on and exposing their lies, fraud, and deceptions, along with all the dirty secrets and skeletons they have in their individual and collective closets.
I could list a number of these things, but let’s stay current: Why don’t you investigate the truth and facts of the hit piece The Reporter-Herald published recently about the Colorado Division of Wildlife? Why don’t you look into why this came about? It wasn’t why they claimed: That the DOW hid information about banning dogs from two reservoirs in the Loveland area on their web site. Lots of people knew about the proposed and subsequent changes to the rules regarding dogs at these reservoirs by way of the DOW web site.
The story is not about that at all. It is, as it often is, about “Mr. Ed” and his workers thinking themselves above the law. It is about warnings given, tickets written, and fines enforced against people involved with The Reporter-Herald and their dogs being off-leash, and harassing wildlife.
This is just another example of corruption in The Reporter-Herald and its rank and file. Go back and investigate the facts and truth of the hit piece The Reporter-Herald did on the Loveland Police Department in the form of fabricated comments in The RH-Line about how people were pulled over by patrol vehicles and searched, their rights violated. . . and how these comments were faked and not factually proven or supported, and how this smear campaign was executed with the blessing of Amundson and Kapperman because they think themselves beyond the law, and should be allowed to break the law, the rules of the road, specifically.
Go back and find out what legal action was presented to Ed Lehman by the Loveland City Attorney on behalf of the police regarding these activities perpetuated by Ken Amundson and Christine Kapperman, and why these two immature, unprofessional troublemakers weren’t fired as they should have been because they were and are responsible for the content of the newspaper, and how that goes to this latest bit of mud-slinging.
Then come back and claim your position, and how it is you report the unvarnished.
If there was some run-in with the Loveland Police and people affiliated with the local newspaper – please free to email your evidence to Admin@LovelandPolitcs.com. You have posted this accusation a number of times but failed to provide any evidence.
