Is Red Concrete a New Public Art for Loveland?

We applaud the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald Editorial bringing-up the issue of increasingly ugly medians in Loveland. The removal of the last median trees on Wilson was celebrated with signs along Wilson Ave. bragging about the public improvement. see story on concrete red medians

I really hate that red crap. I don’t care why it is red who is responsible?

Why is landscaping in Centerra is now a “public good” worth spending tax dollars for when the rest of Loveland gets stupid concrete? I guess all my taxes are going to pay for police, library and fire services for Centerra.

    You got it Bob.

I still maintain that you need to post costs in order to get a realistic comparison. This reminds me of the past when Ft. Collins was conducting the “citizen outreach” in order to foster support for City Plan, they would show pictures of bare concrete streets and then pictures of broad mature tree lined streets and ask which was the preferred viewscape without putting it into a cost analysis perspective. Of course folks chose the broad tree lined because it is by far more pleasing to the eye, so fewer arterials are reconstructed as voted in sales tax issues due to the increased costs associated with your beautification plan. Please don’t do a childish end run of trying to put me in Marostica’s corner as I do not think reasonable fees should ever be waived for anybody, including other government entities. California is bankrupt because they wanted everything nice for everybody and now you want to bring the same mentality here. No thanks…..
